林尘镇是广东省茂名市化州市所辖，属建制镇，处在化州市的中央一带，邻界有中垌镇和官桥镇（西南），以及高州市（东）[1]。镇域面积130.85平方千米，辖1个社区和21个行政村，镇政府设在幸福路178号[1]。罗江流经镇中，镇名来自江东岸的林尘圩[2]。1987年2月撤区设镇[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载地名由来，宋初以船运为业的林、陈两姓人家，起初在罗江边的多啰街（今下车村木根村，距林尘圩约1千米）聚居，后迁到江东岸，称林陈村。两姓设店，到靖康元年（1126年）形成集市，叫林陈圩；后来陈家衰落，林家改「陈」为「尘」，圩名成了林尘圩，镇名由此而来[2]。百度百科收录的别名「林陈镇」，与这一说法相合[1]。
民国二十一年（1932年），林尘圩成为化县第五区区公所所在地，该区范围涵盖今天的林尘、丽岗、合江、江湖四镇；在今林尘镇境内，当时分置林尘、塘蓬、下塱三个乡[3]。民国三十一年起改置林尘乡，隶化县第二区，乡公所仍在圩上[3]。
新中国成立后，1950年10月再设化县第五区，下领合江、连江、林尘、尖岗、下塘五个乡，其中林尘乡的辖地就是今林尘镇之地；1953年改为第七区，下属13乡，涵盖今林尘和江湖[3]。1958年9月林尘人民公社成立，管着林尘、塘墩、坦塘、江湖、西岸五乡[3]。1961年9月公社改为林尘区，1963年1月区建制撤销，江湖公社另立门户[3]。1983年10月公社让位于新设的林尘区，四年后的1987年2月区又改为镇[3]。2021年10月时，镇下设一个社区和二十一个行政村[1]。
人口民族[edit]
百度百科载，户籍人口在2019年末为88501人[1]。博雅地名网则引第七次全国人口普查结果，称2021年6月公布的镇人口为5.56万人，在化州市各街道乡镇中居第9位[2]。两个数字口径不同，一为户籍人口，一为普查人口。
经济[edit]
博雅地名网载，镇内农业有水果、北运菜、蚕桑、甘蔗、中药、番茄、麻种、玉米、淡水养殖和禽畜等生产基地，是化州市主要产粮区之一；还建有1200亩的工业园区，主要做建材、化工、水电与来料加工[2]。在2021年9月广东省农业农村厅公布的第三批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业镇名单里，有林尘镇，产品一栏写的是菠萝蜜[1][2]。
据百度百科，该镇2019年税收总收入为864.1万元，比上年增长0.1%[1]。
镇内一些村各有专长：白塘村培育荔枝、龙眼等果苗，据称年产1500多万株[2]；白沙村（菠萝蜜）和六马岭村（富硒鸡蛋）于2021年9月列入第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单[4][5]。
