祥山社区在石鼓镇境内，原是祥山镇的驻地。祥山镇后来并入石鼓镇，1995年定名祥山社区居民委员会[1]。
名称由来[edit]
此地原叫长山，因村北至南有一条约一公里长的丘陵山地，终年林木青翠。后来因镇名与廉江县的长山镇相同，湛江专区要求高州改名，遂定名祥山，取吉祥之意[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
此地1961年设长山公社，1981年更名祥山公社，其后依次为祥山区（1983年）、祥山乡（1986年12月）和祥山镇（1993年起）；再并入石鼓镇，居民委员会在1995年定名祥山社区居民委员会[1]。
