社区处在石鼓镇的中心位置，所以叫中区[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，1950年这一带设区，先后称十一区、石鼓区；1957年撤区并乡，改为石鼓片和石鼓乡；1958年成立石鼓公社时，设立中区居民委员会[1]。
