金山街道在广东省茂名市高州市南端，下辖金山社区和10个行政村，同金山经济开发试验区是一套人马、两块牌子。街道1996年设立，面积约58.7平方千米，2020年人口普查登记人口4.83万。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1992年，距高州县城约13千米处，原分界镇的金山管区与原泗水镇的陈垌管区连成一片，辟作金山经济开发区。1994年设金山区管委会，与开发区合署办公，两块牌子一套人马。1996年8月10日设金山街道办事处，并在金山圩上成立金山社区居民委员会。街道的名称来自驻地金山。[1][3]

地理与交通[edit]

街道地势平坦开阔。据街道概况介绍，高水一级公路和高茂公路可通茂名东、西火车站和水东港，洛湛铁路也将经过辖区。[2]

经济[edit]

据街道概况，试验区规划面积22平方千米，先期开发7平方千米；区内企业一百多家，以皮革制品、农副产品加工、手工艺品、乙烯下游加工、五金铸件为五大支柱，农业上则有粮食、北运菜、水果、畜牧产品基地。街道曾获「全国乡镇企业示范区」称号，2002年起连续三年被高州市评为「农村经济发展十强镇（街道）」。以上为2000年代初的介绍。[2]
