历史沿革[edit]

关于村名，地名资料的说法是：辖区东面的出口处有一块大石横卧，故名。[2]沿革方面：1951年为横石行政村，此后1953年为横石乡，此后1958年后为横石大队，此后1983年春设横石村民委员会，此后同年冬改设横石乡人民政府，此后1986年称横石管理区，此后1999年改为横石村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村中种养的有水稻、蔬菜和速生桉，荔枝产量较多；有木材加工、石料加工和运输等副业。[1]该页载耕地835亩、山地4470亩。[1]
