横新村隶属湛江市廉江市的石角镇，是一个行政村，村委会驻华角村。[1]据博雅地名网所载，辖5条自然村，383户、1867人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

关于村名，地名资料的说法是：1958年建鹤地水库，村民从横石迁往外地，1960年迁回，为与横石相区别，取名横新。[2]沿革方面：1958年修建鹤地水库时设横新大队，此后1960年后仍称横新大队，此后1983年改为横新乡，此后1987年称横新管理区，此后1999年改为横新村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村中种养的有水稻、玉米和蔬菜，以龙眼为主要特产；有运输副业。[1]该页载耕地818亩、山地2969亩。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2026年3月其被认定列入第三批广东省“百千万工程”典型村镇；另有2019年9月进入2018年度广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位之列。[1]
