历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：村民原住在名叫金袍垌的地方，由此取“大金”为名；村委会以辖内的大金坡村命名。[1]

建制沿革：修武陵水库的1958年，这里属低山管理区；1961年从中分出大金生产管区，在大王垌村办公，当年3月再析为大明、大金坡、墩仔三个大队，次年重新合在一起，仍叫大金大队；1984年恢复乡政府，1987年设管理区，1999年起为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇（2026年3月认定）；湛江市2020年度全市文明村（2021年1月）；2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位（2019年9月公布）。[1]
