名称来历：全村人来自四面八方，合成一个大家庭，由此得名。[1]

建制变迁：解放前归洪家乡，1959年起是附城公社下的大家大队，1979年改隶城西公社，1983年改大家乡，1986年设村委会，1989年称管理区，1999年改称大家村民委员会。[1]

近年的荣誉与称号如下。[1]

  • 2019年9月列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
  • 2020年8月列入广东省农业农村厅公布的「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」，产品为火龙果。[1]
