村名由中社、东社、西社三坊各取一字而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋咸淳年间（1266年），村民从越塘分支建村，占越塘乡十三坊中的中社、东社、西社三坊。[1] 2007年起属沙坪街道。[2]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网记，2009年，农民人均纯收入9700元，村集体经济收入970万元。[1] 百度百科称，2023年村集体经济收入超过1000万元，集体固定资产2.15亿元；村内建有25幢楼房，引入15家企业。[2]

村位于鹤山港附近，广湛公路、佛开高速公路经过；村中建有龙舟文化展厅。[2] 2022年，街道投入450万元疏浚村里的河涌。[3]

荣誉[edit]

中东西村在2020年、2021年、2022年均上榜淘宝村名单；2017年10月获第一批广东省卫生村称号；2026年3月被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
