式桥村在双水镇通往会城的必经路段上，交通较方便，是冲式、四桥两个村委会合并后各取一字得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋咸淳年间（1265年—1274年），梁姓先祖从南雄迁到会城苍蒲巷，其子彦雄再迁来立村，初称柳溪，后来改名大石桥，再与四里合并，称为四桥。[1] 明崇祯年间（1628年—1644年），林姓先祖从福建莆田迁来立村；「冲式」在明万历县志里写作「冲色」。[1] 民国时分属笋岭乡和小冈乡（均在第六区），解放初归天式乡，1958年并入天式管理区，次年冲式、四桥各自成立大队。[1]

经济[edit]

村里有11个村民小组，约1900人，资料记载村委会年经济收入约15万元，主要来自香厂出租，另有少量鱼塘出租，鱼塘面积800亩。[1] 2019年9月，式桥村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
