梅冈村在双水镇北部，东临潭江，西南靠小冈圩，与会城相邻。[1] 这里是潭江边的小丘陵，从前遍植梅树，因而叫梅冈。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传南宋咸淳年间（1265年—1274年），苏姓的伊生从南雄珠玑巷迁来立村。[1] 清康熙县志已有梅冈村，属潮居都六图。[1] 民国时在第六区小冈乡境内，1951年立梅冈乡，1955年划入罗坑区；1958年成梅江管理区，翌年成梅岗大队；1961年梅冈分成连岗、洞阁、开岗、山上、龙北五个大队，隶属小冈人民公社，四年后合并，1984年起改乡、改村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村内设12个村民小组，面积约6平方千米，常住人口4173人、1173户，耕地4300多亩，其中鱼塘1100多亩，养白对虾、桂花鱼和鸭、鹅，香蕉种植3000多亩，是香蕉种植专业村。[1]
