蓢头村在双水镇西南面，因村北一带原是长满蓢草的沼泽而得名；博雅地名网等资料也写作「朗头村」。[1] 村内设11个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据明代《陆氏族谱序》，陆姓先祖陆昌祖居金陵（今南京），元末明初迁到新会泷水里，在蓢头立村。[1] 陈献章的门人陆辇（号节庵）出自陆氏，曾任江西萍乡县丞。[1] 明崇祯年间（1628年—1644年），钟姓先祖又从今罗坑镇南庄迁来。[1] 明万历县志已有蓢头村的记录，属潮居都。[1]

民国时属第七区双凌乡，1951年称蓢头乡，其后并入三联乡、天亭乡；1958年10月起另称蓢头管理区。[1]

经济[edit]

全村面积4.42平方千米，有599户、1920人，耕地2365亩，包括水稻1112亩、鱼塘850亩，另有山林4750亩。[1] 2020年12月，蓢头村被列入2020年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
