燎原是汕头市濠江区玉新街道下辖的社区，位于濠江南畔，面积1.1平方千米，办公地址在濠原巷8号。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村子创立于明万历十三年（1585年），最初叫洞濠乡；宋末村北因江河流向设有渡口，又称渡头仔。1953年成立高级农业社时改名燎原，名字取自“星星之火可以燎原”。此后1983年称燎原乡，由河浦区管辖；1994年起成为玉新街道办事处下的村委会，1999年又改设居委会。[1]

经济[edit]

据博雅地名网所录社区简介，燎原总人口3965人、810户，其中农业户口占95.5%；耕地约350亩，另有养殖池8个共150亩，种植水稻、蔬菜、水果，兼营养殖，手工业有珠绣和服装加工。[1] 2020年8月，燎原社区列入广东省农业农村厅公布的首批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村，类别是乳制品。[1]
