玉石是汕头市濠江区玉新街道下辖的社区，地处玉新街道中心，总面积2.5平方千米，办公地址在玉石东街。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村子于明成化八年（1472年）创立，原名崎石村，村境有崎石山（今称崎峰山），传说山上巨石常发光如玉，后雅称玉石。行政归属几经变动：先在玉岗乡，继而在钱塘乡，1957年划入河浦乡，1959年作为玉石大队隶属达濠农业公社；1994年成为玉新街道办事处管辖的村委会，1999年改为居委会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
据社区简介，全社区1242户、5856人，耕地约804.7亩，集体收入来自边角地和涂滩地租金、336亩渔池租金以及肉菜市场档位租金。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村内的玉石玄帝古庙是明代建筑，2010年3月22日被列为汕头市文物保护单位。[2]
