金东街道是广东省汕头市金平区东北部的街道，2019年11月25日由原金厦街道与东墩街道合并设立，辖19个社区，办事处在汕樟路168号二楼，邮政编码515041。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

前身之一的东墩街道，1985年5月由金砂区人民政府设立办事处；2001年12月起，南墩、北墩两个经济联合社的党群、经济和行政工作改由街道直接领导。[4]前身另一半的金厦街道，则是在原属金砂区南墩村的旱地上发展出来的：1986年起，汕头市政府在这片地上建设东厦住宅区，规模仅次于此前的飞厦住宅区；金园区、升平区在2003年3月并为金平区，街道办事处随之改称金平区金厦街道办事处。[3]2019年11月25日，金厦、东墩两个街道撤销，合并设立金东街道，名称各取原两街道名中的一字；2020年5月4日上午，金东街道办事处正式挂牌。[1][2][6]

据百度百科，辖区总面积4.2平方千米，是原两个街道面积（金厦街道1.2平方千米、东墩街道3平方千米）之和。[1][3][4]博雅地名网另记面积约1.2平方千米。[2]原东墩街道的范围，东起金环北路、金凤路，南到金丰路、党校路、金湖路，西以梅溪河中心线为界，北到华山路、浮陇排水沟和建丰关上闸，与广厦街道相邻。[4]汕樟路、东厦路、华山路和金湖路是穿过辖区的主要干道。[5]

2011年末，原两街道常住人口合计10.7万人，其中金厦街道5.56万人，东墩街道5.14万人。[1][3][4]博雅地名网记为约10.3万人。[2]

北墩社区境内有三山国王庙。[7]桃园社区的桃园住宅小区建于1992年至1993年，1995年12月29日国家主席江泽民前往考察，小区被命名为「全国城市物业管理优秀示范住宅小区」。[8]

石榴园、月季园、海棠园、水仙园、玫瑰园、杏园、牡丹园、百合园等社区得名于所辖的住宅区；龙北、东福以道路命名；玉蓉由玉兰园、芙蓉园两个居委各取一字；金凤因金凤路得名；金誉得名于金誉花园住宅区；金墩、金兴由原金墩居委拆分而来。南墩、北墩原同属东墩乡，保留了旧村名。[2]
