历史沿革[edit]
社区因所辖为桃园住宅区而得名。桃园小区是汕头市政府为解决市区居民住房困难而建的「二二六」补贴出售住宅小区，1992年9月开工，次年10月完工，曾被称为「小新加坡」式住宅小区；居委会1993年成立，2002年2月5日经批准命名。早期隶属金园区东墩街道，2003年3月区划调整后仍属东墩街道，2019年划入金东街道。[1]
地理环境[edit]
西起东厦路，东至龙湖排水沟，北抵东厦路与龙湖排水沟的交接处，南邻金凤路，面积0.105平方千米，辖8个居民小组。[1][2]

文化[edit]
1995年12月29日，国家主席江泽民前往桃园小区考察，小区同时被国家命名为「全国城市物业管理优秀示范住宅小区」，并被市、区评为安全优秀示范小区，此后多次接待各级领导和海内外来宾参观。区内设有桃园幼儿园，东厦北路、金凤路、金环路是主要干道。[1][2]
