历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村民在元末从闽南迁来建村。新中国成立前，南墩与北墩同属东墩乡，南墩一带称南畔；土地改革时分设为村，定名南墩。[1][2]1987年6月设南墩居委会，1997年一分为二，另立第二居委；2003年3月重划区划，改归东墩街道，2019年划入金东街道。[1]
地理环境[edit]
西起南北墩排水沟，东至东厦路，北抵龙湖沟，南邻金凤路，面积0.39平方千米，辖15个居民小组，房屋多为砖混楼房，聚落连成块状。[1]

经济[edit]
社区原是市郊蔬菜基地，出产东墩菜豆；近年大部分土地被征为城市建设用地，村民转为从事工业。辖区企业有东兴客车配件、金基有限公司、金兴塑胶实业、天龙陶瓷等。[1][2]

区内设有南墩小学，东安路是主要干道。[1]
