西陇是汕头市金平区岐山街道的社区，在汕头市北部，距中心城区4公里，地处韩江下游，面积约1.2平方公里，袁姓约占七成[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

简介称，北宋元丰六年（1083年）进士袁琛从浙江衢州府龙游县南迁，在揭阳创立长美乡，其后第六世袁宏迁居澄海鸥汀。鸥汀袁氏第十一世鲁庵公的第三房恒恕迁到赤窖以西一公里的东垅居住，其子景瑜、素朴在此围垦。当时辛氏、徐氏已住在今西陇，辛氏居南、徐氏居北，民间有“南畔辛北畔徐”的俗语。东垅留下断瓦颓垣，“垅”与“陇”同音，又取兴旺之意，定名“西陇”[1][2]。

姓氏与祠堂[edit]

袁氏在此耕作繁衍成为主姓，建祀先之堂“素朴公祠”，在西陇下社，俗称下祠堂；之后黄、陈、佘、唐、贺等姓相继迁入[2]。

人口与经济[edit]

简介载社区有3397人、792户，袁姓占70%，聚落沿潮汕路东南侧呈长条状，有“蛇地”之称。1992年、1993年两次被汕头市国土局统征土地。社区有企业13家，其中规模以上3家，广东西陇化工股份有限公司是一家有独立进出口权的化工企业[2]。
