浮东社区是汕头市金平区广厦街道下辖的社区，由旧时浮陇乡东半部的浮东村改设而来，现已大部分并入城区。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，元末有来自福建莆田、漳州、泉州等地的居民在此定居，康熙年间村落渐成规模，定名浮陇村。该村起初归揭阳县蓬洲都管，明嘉靖四十二年（1563年）改隶澄海县；民国10年（1921年）撤都置区，村改称浮陇乡，划入澄海县下蓬区。[1]此后浮陇乡分为东西两部，东部称浮东。[1][3]1996年成立浮东居民委员会，隶属金园区广厦街道。[3]

地名由来[edit]

相传建村时，这里是河口的一片江心洲，泥沙堆积成沙陇浮出水面，村里旗杆巷一带地势最高，因此取名浮陇；位于东面的一半称浮陇东乡，后简称浮东。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区坐落在新津河冲积平原上，南邻浮西社区，西靠梅溪，东北与龙湖区鸥汀村相接。辖区面积0.9平方千米，分16个居民小组。[1]百度百科记面积为1.03平方千米，两处数字略有出入。[2]

人口民族[edit]

社区有2053户、9718人（博雅地名网所记，未注明年份），居民均为汉族潮汕民系，讲潮汕话，以林、辛、黄三姓为主。[1]

经济[edit]

这里原是汕头市区的蔬菜基地之一，近年土地大部分被征为城市建设用地。[1]百度百科称它是金平区向北发展的重点区域之一，规划定位为滨水型居住区。[2]辖区内有浮东小学，金新北路穿过社区。[1]
