历史沿革[edit]
1975年，新红革委会改名陵海街道，辖陵海、石砲台、新湖、平原、长厦5个村。[2]1981年前后，陵海街道的石砲台村、新湖村与崎碌街道的葱陇田居民委员会合并，设石砲台街道。[2]2001年，陵海、石砲台两个街道与龙厦、飞厦两个街道的部分地区合并，成立石炮台街道办事处。[1]此后金园区与升平区合为金平区（2003年3月），办事处随之改隶金平区。[1]
博雅地名网写作1982年成立石炮台街道，百度百科则以2001年的合并为现街道的设立，两者所指不同：前者说的是旧石砲台街道，后者说的是合并后的街道。[1][2]
地理环境[edit]
街道总面积3.28平方千米，北以金砂路为界，南濒汕头港，西到汕樟路，东到东厦路，属亚热带季风气候。[1]街道办事处设在金平区卫工路8号。[1]

2020年11月的常住人口为6.3004万人。[1]

2011年，街道完成固定资产投资10.04亿元，规模以上工业总产值为35.56亿元，其增加值6.30亿元。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
崎碌炮台俗称石炮台，位于海滨路20号。它由潮州总兵方耀奏请建造，同治十三年（1874年）动工，光绪五年（1879年）竣工，耗银八万余元。[3]炮台为环形城堡，占地19607平方米，直径116米，外有宽23米的护台河环绕；墙体用贝灰、沙、糯米粥和红糖调和夯筑，并配以花岗岩石料。[3]1989年，炮台列为广东省文物保护单位，2013年又晋升为全国重点文物保护单位（第七批）。[3][4]
炮台所在的石炮台公园是纪念性公园，炮台在1924年被改作监狱，到1983年才按城市规划辟为公园，如今不收门票。[5]街道内还有沿海的观海长廊（海滨长廊公园）和位于金砂路的金砂公园。[1][2]
