平原社区是汕头市金平区石炮台街道下辖的社区，居委会设在金平街13号101，原为城中村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立前夕，这里由俗称「48间」的聚落和位于升平路南北两侧的贫民新村合成，居民来自普宁、潮阳、澄海和汕头市郊，因有平民新村，最初称平民村。1953年村名改为平原，1982年7月称平原大队并划入金砂区，同年改设居委会；2002年1月起归金园区石炮台街道管辖。[1]
地理环境[edit]
面积0.15平方千米，下设15个居民小组，北侧临金砂东路，南侧临长平路，东西分别以金新南路、金陵路为界。汕头华侨新村商业步行街从中间穿过，北侧是金砂公园，南侧为长平路商住区。[1]
人口民族[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，辖区有1584户、6001人。城市建设占去村里大部分土地，村民已全部转为非农业户口。[1]
