湖口镇是广东省韶关市南雄市下辖的镇，在南雄市东部，东接黄坑镇，南界水口镇、黎口镇，西连珠玑镇和南雄市区，北邻邓坊镇。镇政府驻湖口社区，辖1个社区、12个行政村。[1]境内罗佛寨一带是南雄“红层”古生物化石的典型地段。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
镇名取自“湖泊出口”之意，相传此地原是一片湖泊的出水处。[2]明代属惠杨乡的鸟源都，清咸丰四年（1854年）改都为约，民国十八年（1929年）改约为乡，隶南雄第二区长平乡。1951年，今镇域分属湖口、里和、长市、新湖、承平、太和六个小乡，1956年合为湖口乡，1958年划入红旗人民公社，1961年建湖口人民公社，1984年改区，1986年改镇。[2]
地理环境[edit]
镇域为丘陵地形，北部高、南部低，南山水与下洞水两条河流经境内，气候属亚热带季风气候。[1]镇域面积73.64平方千米（2018年）。[1]
经济[edit]
镇内以种植业为主，各村普遍种植黄烟、水稻和花生；据村情资料，湖口村、长市村于2020年入选首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村，产业为中草药。[3][4]2025年5月，湖口镇入选「广东省“百千万工程”第二批专业镇建设名单」。[2]2014年，全镇农村经济总收入62887万元，农民人均所得9318元。[1]
湖口村所在的湖口镇有两个省级现代农业产业园：南雄市丝苗米产业园和南药产业园，2024年的报道预计可带动农户就业5000人以上。[5]
名胜古迹[edit]
回龙寺塔在新湖村，始建于宋代，是风水塔，因塔旁原有回龙寺得名，现存砖塔，1958年第五至七层被拆去，用砖建了当地学校。1997年被南雄市人民政府公布为文物保护单位，2011年5月修复竣工，2012年列为「广东省文物保护单位」。[6]
罗佛寨位于太和村，距城区约5公里，地层形成于约5000万年前，出土阶齿兽、湖口龟等化石，是「广东南雄恐龙化石群省级自然保护区」的保护二区，面积约17.91平方千米。[7]
此外，磨地狮舞列入南雄市非物质文化遗产名录；花楼是中共南雄县委早期机关旧址。[1]
著名人物[edit]
革命烈士曾昭秀、李乐天是湖口镇人。[1]据博雅地名网，张尚琼（1914—1978）出生于湖口乡张屋村，1929年入党；曾昭慈（1907—1997）为湖口镇人；徐道金（1914—1983）为矿岭村人，历任南雄第五区区委书记、区长。[2]
