新莲村是董塘镇的一个行政村，村名取自新成立的组织名称和辖区内长着莲花的池塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国后设新莲乡，1958年改大队；改革后恢复乡名，随后几度变更为村委会、管理区，1998年重定为村委会。[1]新龙（1976年）和高莲（1993年）两个村都是从这里分出去的。[2][3]

2026年3月，新莲村被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]

著名人物[edit]

余木财（1945年9月—1998年9月），新莲村人。他1961年入伍，1966年底开始工作，1980年入党，一直在公安系统，早年当过董塘公社的公安员和派出所办事员。[4]

据仁化县人民政府网站对董塘镇的介绍，新莲村是第三批「百千万工程」典型村，项目建设已完成。[5]
