东苑社区是黄埔街道辖下的城市社区，在港湾路北面，靠近横沙，与茅岗社区接壤，因东苑小区得名，居委会设在东苑中街8号首层。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

东苑小区由区政府、国土局和教育局合资兴建，1999年交付使用，社区名称沿用至今。[1]

人口民族[edit]

小区占地约9.2万平方米，建筑面积约12万平方米。博雅地名网所载介绍（未注明年份）称，共870户、3126人。[1]

文化[edit]

社区是黄埔区较早获广州市“绿色社区”称号的小区之一，2005年获“广东省文明社区”称号，2022年11月被认定为广州市2022年绿色社区。[1]
