中南街道是广州市荔湾区西南部的一个街道，东邻东漖街道、东沙街道，西北与北面接海龙街道，南面和西南隔珠江与海珠区相望。2001年12月设立，辖海中、海南、南丫3个社区。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，此地隶属南海县。1958年编入广州市鹤洞公社，1984年起归鹤洞区公所管辖。次年（1985年）鹤洞区公所易名芳村区，此地归芳村区东漖镇。[2]中南街道设于2001年12月；芳村区在2005年并入荔湾区，街道随之划归荔湾。[1][2]

街道的名称取自辖内的海中、海南两条村，各取村名中的一个字合成。[2]

地理环境[edit]

街道位于荔湾区西南部，总面积约6.7平方千米。[1][2]维基百科记载的交通设施有广佛地铁菊树站。[3]

人口民族[edit]

据百度百科，2011年末街道户籍人口为8507人。[1]博雅地名网引述第七次全国人口普查结果，称2020年普查时街道人口为4.61万人，在荔湾区各街道中居第17位。[2]维基百科另给出24710人的数字，未注明年份。[3]三项数字统计口径不同，彼此不能直接比较。

辖区种花为主要农业，制造加工为主要工业。据该条目，2011年工业总产值19.01亿元，较2010年上升26.1%；零售总额（社会消费品）6.23亿元，较2010年上升0.7%。[1]

街道下辖海中社区、海南社区和南丫社区。海中社区在城乡划分中属城乡结合区，另两个属主城区。[2]广州市2018年第二批城市更新计划项目表列有中南街微改造项目，范围涉及海南、海中两个社区。[4]
