历史沿革[edit]
街道设立于1950年7月，起初属长寿区人民政府；到1960年，划归荔湾区政府。[1]2021年10月底的辖区共12个社区。[1]
地理环境[edit]
辖区东至人民北路，与越秀区纸行街相邻；南面是中山七路和龙津中路，隔路为龙津街道与逢源街道；西到荔湾路，邻彩虹街道；北靠西华路，对面是越秀区东风街道。[1]
人口民族[edit]
据第七次人口普查，2020年末街道常住人口为56118人；维基百科另载常住人口8.5万、户籍人口5.3万，所取年份与口径未注明。[1][2]
经济[edit]
统计显示，2011年街道工业总产值达175.71亿元，较上年增10.8%；当年社会消费品零售总额为21.58亿元，增幅14.1%。[1]近年街道把几处长期烂尾的地块当作经济上的要事来推动，涉及广州卷烟二厂地块、兴隆广场和荔康旧货市场；其中荔湾旧货市场改建成了唐铭广场；辖内的「一起开工」社区被科技部评为国家级众创空间，敬梓里文创社区引入了十余家文创公司。[3]2021年，街道党工委获「广东省先进基层党组织」称号。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
陈家祠有「古祠留芳」之名，列入羊城新八景；辖区内另有「广州三石」之一的浮丘石，以及始建于明代崇祯年间的斗姥宫。[2]
城市更新[edit]
据2023年3月的报道，此前街道已改造完毕的有陈家祠、吉祥两个片区以及桃源、蟠虬两个社区，合计约67万平方米。[4]同年3月30日，隆庆、和安、锦绣三个片区开始微改造，范围14.55公顷，居民5523户、17673人受益。[4]
交通[edit]
广州地铁1号线和8号线在辖区设陈家祠站；主要道路有人民北路、中山七路和康王北路。[2]
