井头村处在前岐镇东北的山区，与浙江苍南县观美镇相接，村名因村头有一口井而来。[1]

村庄海拔约380米，是前岐镇海拔最高的山区之一，村级公路经桥亭村水泥路通往外界。[1]

村庄属于集老区、少数民族和边远地区于一体的少数民族村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1981年称井头大队，1983年改称井头乡，1987年设立井头村民委员会。[1]

文化[edit]

2022年3月，井头村被命名为「2021年福鼎市平安村（社区）」。[1]
