西洋村位于双洋溪西岸的开阔地带，村名由此而来。村内有西洋、赤洋埔两个自然村，村中仍保留较多旧时的古民居与古桥。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1934年，此地为宁洋县城厢一带的西洋保，隶中南城联保。[1] 1949年以后归宁洋县城厢镇，称西洋村。[1]

1956年宁洋县撤销，西洋一带改隶漳平县双洋区，设西洋乡。[1] 1957年区制撤销，村并入双洋督导片。1958年起属东风公社双洋大队，1961年改为西洋大队，隶双洋公社；1984年复称村，1989年随双洋乡改镇，称双洋镇西洋村。[1]

文化[edit]

村中保存庆德堂、世昌堂等古民居，以及登瀛桥等古建筑。[1][2]

2015年10月，村被认定为福建省第一批省级传统村落；2019年6月，又被收入第五批中国传统村落名单。[1][2]

2020年12月，村入选「2020年度福建省一村一品示范村」（蜜柚）；2021年11月，村获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
