桂林街道位于福建省龙岩市漳平市城区南侧，处在九龙江上游一段，北面隔河与菁城街道相望。旧时此地称榉林，后改名桂林。1995年撤乡设街道办事处，辖区既有城区社区，也有山地村庄；农业以蔬菜和水稻为主，地下有石灰石、石墨矿和铅锌矿等矿产。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，此地原名榉林，明万历年间因村前沿岸古有一株榉树而得名。改称桂林的缘由有两说：一说桂林分上、下两段，街道驻地在上段，遂统称桂林；另一说是为避知县黄榉之讳。[2][5]

清代及民国初年，此地分属居仁里的桂林社与华寮社。1934年改设第一区桂林联保，1943年与瑞华乡合并为桂华乡，1944年并入菁城镇。1949年后归桂华乡，再属菁华区，1958年起分属红专、菁华、城郊几个公社。1971年并入城郊公社，1980年析出设桂林公社，1984年改称桂林乡，1995年撤乡设街道办事处。[1][4]

地理环境[edit]

街道地处九龙江上游，国土面积107平方千米。东与芦芝镇接壤，南与华安县交界，并与永福镇相连；西与拱桥镇、西园镇为邻。[1][3]

气候为南亚热带海洋性季风类型，年平均降雨量1450毫米，无霜期约284至303天，平均气温在19.2～20℃之间。[3]

地下矿藏有石灰石、高岭土、石墨矿和铅锌矿等，石灰石与石墨矿主要在高明社区，铅锌矿分布于瑞都村与石坂坑村。水力资源也较丰富，已建成黄祠一级、二级、黄佳坪、厚福和瑞都等水电站。[3]

人口民族[edit]

其余居民多为汉族，通行闽南方言漳平话。畲族聚居的行政村山羊村，村民讲畲语。[3]

经济[edit]

农业以蔬菜和水稻为主。蔬菜有杭椒、青椒、四季豆、黄瓜等品种，水稻也是主要作物。[1]

瑞都村的温室里栽培日本阳光青提、香蕉、巨峰葡萄和百香果，并开展采摘体验。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

榉子洲公园位于桂林路旁的九龙江边，占地约6.67公顷，园内有多株古樟树。[2][6]

据百度百科，公园名称出自明成化七年（1471年）首任县令陈栗在此种植榉树的旧事。清康熙年间起，沿江大量种植香樟，形成古樟林。园内古樟树的数量，博雅地名网记为114株、树龄300至500年，百度百科则称近百株。[2][6]
