井头村位于古城镇境内，村名来自村中的水井。[1]

地名由来[edit]

明代以来，村中有水井三口，村子因此得名“井头”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前，村子归古城乡井头保管辖；解放后隶属下都乡。合作化时期成立井头初级社。1958年公社化后并入下都大队的辖区。1966年社教运动期间，村子另成一个红旗大队；1975年重新单独设为井头大队，1984年改制后设井头村。[1]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月把井头村评定为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
