新南村位于湖坑镇东南部，南溪河穿村而过，村内的衍香楼是福建土楼中的圆形土楼。2015年10月入选福建省第一批省级传统村落，2019年6月列入第五批中国传统村落名录。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名来自一段划分沿革：1955年4月三乡并为南溪乡，1958至1960年冬又划出新南大队管理区，含义为「新的南溪」。[1]

1949年前属南溪乡多隆保。1953年至1954年冬为新南乡，1961年南溪公社设立后成为新南大队管理委员会。1969至1978年改由革命生产领导小组管理，1979年至1984年恢复大队管委会；1984年8月设湖坑乡新南村委会，1993年撤乡设镇后为湖坑镇新南村民委员会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子位于湖坑镇东南部，距湖坑集镇5公里，南溪河穿村而过，溪上跨有一座济行桥。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

衍香楼为圆形土楼，苏氏民居，据百度百科建于清道光二十二年（1842年），永定区政府网站2008年的介绍则作清光绪六年（1880年）建成。[3][4][5]

村内还有重点保护的楼院庆洋楼和庆丰楼，以及溪上的济行桥，据博雅地名网，济行桥是周边唯一的古建筑屋桥。[2]

岐坑头、紫庭坪、张明斜三处为革命基点村。[2]
