上北村位于湖雷镇东部，村东北多山，北面瑞堂山上有三座并列的山峰，南边临溪并靠公路，有13个自然村。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村子在上湖雷片区的北侧，因而取名上北。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年曾归并入大队，1984年建乡后设上北村民委员会。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村中的文馆是旧时的村学堂，占地约3000平方米，现基本完好。[1]
人物[edit]
元末（1376年）熊梦璋到上坝隐居并开馆办学，此后村中人才辈出。明医熊霞辉曾应召入京为宫眷治病。[1]
文化[edit]
上北村于2021年11月获评「2021年福建省卫生村」，由省爱卫办确定。[2]
