东新社区位于龙岩市区东边，解放初还是新建的村落，故名东新。[1]

沿革[edit]

明代至民国初，这里属平寨坊。民国26年（1937年）属平等乡联保，民国30年（1941年）为平铁乡东关保。[1]

解放初称东新村，1951年改设东新乡，1956年成为东新居委会；1958年它与东新大队并存。1979年，东新大队与城东居委会并存，1982年又单设东新居委会。2002年，东新居委会改称东新社区居民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

社区于2023年度获龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」称号，2024年1月公布。[1]
