下西村位于九峰镇偏远处，离镇区约17公里，与诏安县相邻，是革命老区村。[1][4]

村址位于霞峰山以西，原取名霞西，后因闽南话中「霞」「下」读音相近，改称下西。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

1945年属下西保，1950年归第六区下西乡，1958年为下西大队，1984年改设下西村委会。[2]
