东城社区位于南诏镇中心区，沿用原有的老地名“东城”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前属西南镇，划为南坛、文德、仁里三保。解放后分作三片，归城关区第四街管辖。[1]

1958年并入五一管理区，纳入卫星人民公社；文革中成为第四街；1981年定名东城街，2003年改为东城社区。[1]

博雅地名网所载功臣庙址位于东城一带，始建于宋代，1779年重建时改名功臣庙，是县级文物保护单位。[2]
