南边村位于东园镇中部，村域东侧与凤鸣村接壤，西侧连着东宝村，南面是东园村，北面以港边村为邻。漳诏高速公路的出口经过村内的黄坑社。全村辖南边、丹槎河、下田、黄坑4个自然社。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村地原属龙海县四五都，海澄设县后划入海澄。清乾隆时归海澄县城外东路；民国时先属第一区的城东乡，民国36年称峨山乡下的南边保。[1]

1961年4月从东园大队分出，设为东园公社的南边大队。1984年改成东园乡的南边村，至1992年又改为东园镇南边村。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

甘姓占全村总户数的99.8%，是村中的主要姓氏。另有朱姓一户，居于下田社。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

黄坑社有莲堂庙，建于1665年，1987年重新修建。庙宇为土木结构，前有亭、后为殿，供奉广惠圣王；每年农历十一月廿六为其诞辰。[1]

南边庵在南边社，明朝已有，1987年重建，主奉佛祖。农历九月十八、十九日为佛祖寿诞，附近信众前来朝拜。[1]
