东园村位于东园镇中部，是镇政府所在地。村域东面与峨山相接，西面紧邻东宝村，南面是枫林村，北面为南边村。高速公路在村内设有出入口，经此可通往浮宫镇与漳州开发区一带。东园、顶下房、下井、后坑四个自然社组成全村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原为溪流与溪埔，经围垦造园而建村，因而得名东园。[1]

民国时期，村地先属陂内乡，后归峨山乡。1959年2月划归浮宫公社，1961年自南边大队分出，另立东园大队。1992年东园乡改为东园镇，村名随之定为东园村。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

甘姓是村中大姓。始祖仙游开创于唐朝，源出河南固始县，后居于峨山之阳。元朝时族人避乱四散，至十三世甘茂隆恢复故姓，被尊为中兴始祖。[1]

文化[edit]

东园村在2021年11月被福建省爱卫办认定为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

甘氏大宗懿懿堂位于顶下房社，建于明代，历代多次修缮，1990年经台湾甘有荣等人捐资重修。宗祠为二进，占地587平方米，建筑面积300平方米。2004年，甘氏祖祠与甘国公府一并列入龙海市第六批市级文物名录。[2]

辅信将军庙位于下井社，土木结构，前亭后殿，建筑面积200平方米。该庙2004年列为龙海市第六批市级文物。[2]

慈济宫位于后坑社，建于宋朝，建筑面积50平方米，供奉保生大帝。[2]

东园龙溪庙位于村中，建于明代，博雅地名网称其为县级文物保护单位。[2]
