湖边社区位于福建省泉州市石狮市市区中心，北接长福社区，南邻林边社区。[1]

社区名称源于村中一片塘湖，村民的生产生活与之息息相关。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1993年，新湖区域的居民与农民按政府安排一分为四，分出新湖、玉湖、湖南、湖东。[3]

2002年11月，原湖东、湖南两个居委会整合组建湖边社区居委会，据博雅地名网，这是石狮市首个整合社区。[2]
