儒林社区是五里街镇下辖的社区，位于镇的东部，紧邻桃溪，2002年成立，2003年9月5日改称儒林社区并设立居委会。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

地名的来历有一段传说：南宋时朱熹造访永春的陈知柔，清早经过这一带，沿途一片读书声，他赞叹此地可称“儒林”，地名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这里在1981年曾设为儒林大队，到2003年9月5日改为社区，并成立居委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

义烈祠位于社区西南约200米，原名约祠宫，始建于南宋初年，最初奉祀关公、关平、周仓等神。明代嘉靖时，知县柴镳率乡民在此抗倭，此后这座祠堂才被称作义烈祠。现存建筑为清代形制，坐北朝南，由祠门、正堂和后殿组成。1986年定为县级文物，2016年由泉州市政府认定为市级文物。[3]

中共永春县第一个支部旧址位于社区西北约600米，建于民国时期。1982年列为县级文物保护单位，此址于2021年入选「福建省第一批不可移动革命文物名录」。[4]
