下林村位于安溪县长卿镇南部，依傍达摩岩西麓，村址在玉湖溪与玉美溪的汇流处，海拔685米，村民以王姓居多。村名因地处长坑乡南部下游，且村中建有华林祖宇而得。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村庄原称华林，有先人迁居于此，以至繁衍。明清时此地属金田乡还二里。民国时期归长卿镇内一保管辖，1952年划入第十一区的一个乡，1958年归长坑公社的一个大队，1979年1月分出另立大队，1984年改设长坑乡下林村委会。[1]

2022年1月，下林村被认定为「安溪县2020-2021年度文明村镇」。[1]
