地名与沿革[edit]
村名取新墘的「新」字与美塘的「美」字而定。[3]
明清属金田乡兴二里，民国时归蓬莱乡新林保，1952年改设第三区新林乡。1958年组建蓬莱公社新美大队，1963年经再次调整，合成一个新美大队；改革开放后经体制改革，定名新美村。[4]
