华新社区是开元街道下辖的社区，位于鲤城区西北角，东起前孝悌巷，西至平水庙。[2]社区名称因新建华侨别墅而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原较偏僻，除孝悌宫、大本堂和几户民宅外，多是荒地。[1]1956年起动工兴建华侨住宅，到20世纪60年代建成，由此形成华侨新村。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内有惠仁寺和金粟寺两座寺庙。博雅地名网记载，金粟寺建于1377年，惠仁寺则是1436年始建。[2]
