水西村是濉溪镇下辖的行政村，位于闽江源头、金铙山麓的濉溪河畔，距建宁县城约10公里。村名沿用自旧村址：原村建在濉溪河西岸，迁到东边重建后仍沿用此名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

早在宋元时，村地归南乡饶村保管辖，明初则属南区。解放前是丰安乡的山口保，解放后组成均口区的水西乡。[1] 1958年起为均口公社的一个大队，1971年改由城关公社管辖，1984年归金溪乡，2007年起隶属濉溪镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村境内的王坪栋水库位于闽江源国家级自然保护区之内，是县城的饮用水水源。[2] 村属革命老区基点村。[1]

文化[edit]

2009年和2010年，水西村连续两年被评为市级新农村建设示范村。[2] 2021年11月，村庄获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
