水南社区于2002年3月挂牌成立，沿用至今。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年4月，社区被命名为「2021年三明市民主法治示范村（社区）」。2022年11月，社区被确定为「2021年度全国综合减灾示范社区」。[1]
