城东社区属杉城镇，位于泰宁城区中心。社区居委会建于1996年4月，2003年4月改称社区居民委员会。名称取自它在主城区东边的方位。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期此地已归绥城乡清泰里管辖，明初起直属县府，列为在城保。民国初至1931年间属城区。[2]

1934年后隶属一区，之后又属炉峰镇；1958年改为生产大队，1984年改属杉城镇。1996年建立居委会，2003年改为社区居民委员会。[2]

辖区内有状元街、胜二街、环城路和和平中街等街巷，共九条，另有戴家巷、红光街等。[1]
