西洋村位于湖源乡西北部，离乡政府约0.5公里。村名的由来：处在湖源乡西部，村前又有大片洋田，故名西洋。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1940年，本村隶属扬光乡，保名龙凤；1947年改隶湖源乡。新中国成立后并入洋溪区坂尾乡。[2]

1958年归洋溪人民公社湖源管理区，称五大队；1961年改称湖源五大队。1984年撤社改乡，更名西洋村村民委员会，沿用至今。[2]
