桂林村是新度镇下辖的行政村，位于壶公山下，距镇中心约8.5千米，辖8个自然村，村中有莆田总行委扩大会议会址。[1][4]

地名[edit]

早年境内桂花树成林，村名由此而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

早年属感德乡，明清归五区安乐里，民国时为黄石镇苍后保。新中国成立后归九区仓余乡，其后转由渠桥乡仓余高级社管辖，又曾归黄石公社。1960年自大坂大队分出，单设桂林大队；此后改属渠桥公社，1984年又改称渠桥乡下的桂林村。此后归新度镇，2002年起属荔城区。[1][3]

名胜古迹[edit]

会址在三十六乡。1930年11月，邓子恢受中共福建省委派遣来到莆田，于壶公山下的中和寺主持召开莆田总行委扩大会议，研讨当时的形势与工作。[4]

文化[edit]

2021年3月，桂林村获「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」称号；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」命名；2023年11月，获「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」认定。[1]
