龙东村原属龙洞乡，由该乡分离出来，位于其东部，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后，这一带设龙东高级社，此后曾属庄边公社龙东大队，再改为白沙公社龙东大队。1984年改设白沙乡龙东村，1988年划归莆田县白沙镇，2002年起属涵江区白沙镇。[2]

文化[edit]

2024年1月，龙东村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
