东园社区是福建省厦门市翔安区香山街道下辖的社区，由东园村委会于2006年3月改制而成[1]。社区辖东园、埕前两个自然村[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

相传明代，金门琼山保东园村的张姓人向李姓人借用溪边的一块园地养鸭，聚居成村后仍沿用东园之名[1]。

清代隶属民安里十都蓬莱保，民国时期归仁风乡东园保，1950年设东园乡，1955年划入洪钟区[1]。1959年组建东园大队，归新店公社；1961年曾改隶盐山公社，1964年随之并回新店公社；1984年设东园村委会，隶新店乡，1987年改为新店镇辖；1997年转同安区，2003年转翔安区，2006年3月改为社区[1]。

人口民族[edit]

1998年统计，东园自然村有1140户、4056人[1]。

文化[edit]

东园南音是香山街道的地方历史文化资源之一[2]。福建省爱卫办于2021年11月把东园社区定为「2021年福建省卫生社区」[1]。
