西塘社区是同安区新民街道下辖的社区，位于西山岩风景区以南，国道324线自北侧穿过社区。[1]

社区总面积1360亩，共有16个自然村，其中包括林边、沟乾、祖厝边、茂林、土楼等，并分为20个村民小组。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村子西边有一处蓄水塘，夹在大西山与小西山之间，因此得名西塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋时，张德正自南安石井迁居西塘。清代此地隶属从顺里三都西墘保；民国年间，它划入塘柑乡西林保，1950年又归第七区西林乡。[1]

1959年，西塘与洋厝埔合为毅力大队，归策槽公社管辖；1961年又单独分出，设西塘大队。1984年此地归祥桥乡，设西塘村委会；1991年此地祥桥乡改为镇，1992年又更名新民镇。2006年，西塘村委会改制为西塘社区。[1]

社区先后获省级「园林式村庄」称号，并获得市级「先进村民委员会」等荣誉。[2]
